Don't forget folks that the Robin Hood's Bay Ghost Walk is running throughout half term and you can find the timetable on the whitbystoryteller website, Robin Hood's Bay Ghost Walk page and the Robin Hood's Bay website. At the moment as I take a sabbatical the amazing storyteller, author and raconteur Mike Wray is running the walk for me so don't miss a treat - come along for a wonderful evening of entertainment and support small local business and street performance! 👻

Facebook just told me I haven’t posted anything to my page for nearly a year. I’m not sure about that but I apologise for being such a Luddite. 😂 so many wonderful people came on my walks this year both here in Whitby and Robin Hood Bay. It is always an absolute privilege to share my stories and to meet different people. Always grateful. Thank you everyone who came and I hope to carry on next year. There are many more photos to post and I will try to upload more during this winter break. I am still taking bookings for private walks and looking forward to next year. I hope wherever you are you can have a peaceful Christmas. Warmest wishes, Rose.

I was born in Whitby, grew up in the valley by the river. After various jobs I trained as a storyteller and set up my walks and storytelling events. It’s been a joy to meet so many wonderful people, to share what I know and try to provide a fun, informative and memorable experience which connects the history, magic, folklore and mythology of this remarkable place.

Every time I hear the latest favourite catchcry of ‘growth!’, my heart sinks because I know it really just means the destruction of more of what is so precious. So it was a real gift to meet Ed & Verity who are rewilding and growing in the truest sense a whole new ecosystem on their 30 acre farm just outside Whitby. You would never know it was there, it is so hidden away. They are collaborating with the Yorkshire wildlife trust and have put in ponds which now attract thousands of dragonflies, birds and other wildlife every year. Trees are being planted, the whole farm is free from any poisons or pesticides, and it is almost entirely off-line and away from the pollution of Wi-Fi. They have created magical, charming, storybook accommodations in the form of wood and canvas, offering beautiful log burners, double beds, compost toilets in keeping with their ethics and in the photo it is the toilet next to the writers retreat which I just thought was fantastic! They provide fresh farm eggs, a little caravan café where you can go and get ice cream and meet other people. And there is so much more. As Whitby becomes more busy and so much less than what it used to be, I find it very comforting to know that just nearby there are true guardians of the land who care about the right kind of growth. And you can actually go and stay there. 🌿❤️ and you never know, I might just lope in and do some storytelling around the campfire this summer outdoors

Just wanted to make a shout out for the brilliant, talented Jack Barber for his incredible work in helping me design my website which he has built and maintained since I started my little business as a street performing storyteller, now heading into the 18th year of running walks! It just gets richer and deeper. Thank you everyone who has ever come - it is my greatest privilege and pleasure to entertain and to meet such lovely people. Happy New Year!!
