Adlington Junior Raptors v Cherrybrook Scorpions
What a Game!!! 🤯
Second game of the season today, and an Away trip up to Adlington for the Boys. It was also the dreaded 9am Kick-off, so i knew it wasn't just me who was going to be Tired today 😬
The First half was kind of how i expected it to be in regards to our lads being a little slow and tentative to start, with a few not having great reactions at times, and the game itself was a bit scrappy - misplaced passes, snatched shots and defensive mix-ups etc, and we actually went 1 down, hesitation and a lack of communication allowed their man to waltz through and slot home.
Half time came and it was 1 nil to the Home Team, so the message was straight forward:
Keep trying the passes, keep the shots on target and tighten up at the back.
Second Half kicked off - And the message had most definately been received!
The Boys started linking the play, playing nice one-two's and absolutely peppering the opposition goal, but then disaster struck and we went 2 down!! 🤦♂️
Again confusion at the back lead to a mis-kicked clearance, and a cross was saved by our Keeper, but unfortunately parried into the path of the oncoming player who had a simple finish.
This seemed to fire the lads up even more, and another Attack led to a goal from young Freddy, managing to scramble the ball home on the second attempt 😁 2-1
Then after more pressure from the boys, a great passage of play ended with Frankie collecting the ball inside right and Firing a long range shot toward goal that the keeper could only parry into the corner 😃 2-2
THEN, after an attack broke down for the opposition, our boys played the ball out from the back into the midfield, who then fed the ball to Mason on the Left Wing and he hit a long-range, Curling effort that nestled into the far corner, Finally reaping the rewarss of coming close at least 4 times in the first half and never giving up 🤩 3-2
Still time for more drama though, and after young Jimmy made the tackle of the game, which the Ref gave as a foul somehow, the opposition curled an amazing Freekick straight into the far top corner from outside the box,
and although i was fuming with the decision, we could only applaud the Free Kick 👏 3-3
Now if the game had ended then, i'd go as far as saying that after a bit of moaning, everyone would have been happy with the Draw BUT......
Last minutes of the game, our boys force a corner and we flood the Box with our tallest players, allowing a couple of smaller and faster ones to cover.
Frankie whipped the corner into the backpost area and there was Caleb to connect, and the keeper got a hand to it.... but into the roof of the net!!! 🙌🙌 4-3
Another Win for our Scorpions, and Today was a really hard fought game. As i said above, a Draw would have been more than a fair result, but we will take the Win 💯
Good Luck to the opposition for the rest of the season, got a bit heated at times today but our boys gave as good as they got, and a lot of our defensive sureness came from the introduction of Little Jimmy today, was superb when he came on late in the 1st half 👏👏

Parents POTM today was Mason, a constant thorn in the oppositions side today, and had his first few long range shots gone in, he could have had his own Goal of the Season competition i'd say!!!

Coaches POTM today is Kenzie, having only Trained twice, and playing only his second game for us today, the lad had an absolute blinder today - Playing CM and also RB in the 2nd half, his passing, tackling and composure was superb, and he has fitted in brilliantly into our squad.
Well deserved Kenzie lad 🏅👏
Nearly had Heart Attack before, that was stressful 🤣
