In light of the Sunflower lanyard post, I wanted to pop on and speak a little about travelling with a hidden disability.

Not all disabilities are visible, and for many people, travelling can be far more challenging than it may appear from the outside. Something as simple as navigating a busy airport, coping with delays, managing sensory overload, standing in long queues, or dealing with unexpected changes can be exhausting and overwhelming.

The Sunflower lanyard isn't about seeking special treatment. It's a discreet way of letting staff know that someone may need a little extra patience, understanding, support, or time.

Hidden disabilities can include conditions such as autism, ADHD, anxiety disorders, chronic pain, neurological conditions, hearing loss, and many others. Every person's experience is different, and not everyone who needs support will "look disabled."

A little kindness and understanding can make a huge difference. If you see someone wearing a Sunflower lanyard, remember that they may be managing challenges you can't see.

🚨 Assisted Travel Update: Important Info for UK Passengers 🚨

👇 Here's what you need to know 👇
🟡 The UK Sunflower Lanyard is no longer recognised at Aena airports in Spain. Instead, passengers with hidden disabilities can now request Aena’s Invisible Disability Badge.

🔍 What is it?
This badge helps airport staff identify passengers with hidden disabilities and allows access to:
Dedicated security lanes (where available)
Assisted passage through general security

✅ Only one badge per travel party is needed
🗓 Valid for single use on the day of travel
⚠️ Not a fast-track or exemption from security checks
