Hellon Electrical Ltd are a family business with friendly and reliable staff, working in all sectors of the electrical industry.

Hellon Electrical Ltd was established in 2007 and has continued to grow, accumulating an ever increasing repeat customer base. All staff are fully qualified with a wide range of experience in industrial, domestic, commercial and agricultural electrical systems. Pauls wife Katie runs the financial side of the business from the office at home. The lads work regularly throughout Cumbria and South West Scotland.

External supply board upgrade for a large repeat customer.

The old outdated board had been lashed together into a cabinet which is supposed to be recessed into a block wall.

We've upgraded and moved the position to something that resembles a 21st century installation.

New concrete pad, new grp enclosure, new 18th edition consumer unit with SPD and12 resin joints to do. All in the rain ⛈️, but utilising a suspended tarpaulin for cover.

Our customer asked us to install an Electrical Vehicle Charge Point, after carrying out our EVCP Survey it became apparent that we would need to upgrade both the consumer unit and the earthing before we could safely connect the Hypervolt Home Pro 3 to the system.

If you are interested in having a Charge point installed at home or in a place of work, then please do not hesitate to contact us. ⚡️⚡️

Out with the old and in with the new. The customer had reported, that there was sporadic tripping.

After inspection it was found that the leakage to earth from general appliances etc around the property was too large for the 30ma RCD to cope with.

The new consumer unit has 30ma RCBOs for every circuit which should sort the sporadic nuisance tripping out. Also included in the new board is an SPD which will protect electronics etc from Surges on the network caused by things like bad weather etc

We treat the chaps to their suppers thisevening to say thank you for a couple of late yans here and there to get The Highfield Hotel Keswick over the electrical finish line. 18 bedroom Hotel, full rewire top to bottom, and fully refurbished by other trades as well. Thanks very much to Stephen Bell for the opportunity to work on this project. I haven't put any photos up as im sure Josh and Amy would like to reveal it to their patrons themselves.

Last job in before the Bank Holiday Weekend begins for me. Rolec Evo installation, which has had to also incorporate an EICR and a board change to make sure the EV Charge point is correctly protected. Busy Saturday leading to two days away on the bike to Oulton Park for the first round of the British Superbike Championship. ⚡️⚡️

EICR Testing is about to face some major changes, come October we Electricians carrying out Electrical Installation Condition Reports will all need to hold a level 3 qualification in testing and inspection.

Luckily, Hellon Electrical Ltd are able to carry out these inspections moving forwards, because Paul holds said qualification.

Key changes and requirements for 2026 include:

Mandatory Individual Qualification: It is no longer sufficient for just the supervisor to be qualified; every employee, subcontractor, or sole trader doing EICR work must hold a relevant Level 3 award.

Documented Experience: In addition to the qualification, inspectors must prove they have at least two years of practical experience in inspection and testing.
