Foteinari Beach, South Crete 🌊

Some beaches don’t need a beach bar, rows of sunbeds or a long list of things to do. Foteinari is simply somewhere you go, find your spot, get in the sea and do absolutely nothing for a while 🩵

Located on the south coast near Plakias, Foteinari is made up of a couple of small coves, and the water is usually calm and inviting, with the rocky seabed making it a lovely place to bring your mask and spend some time exploring underwater. 🤿

If you’re exploring the south coast by car, add Foteinari to your route and combine it with some of the other beautiful beaches and villages around Plakias! 🚗🇬🇷

SKINARIA BEACH 🇬🇷

If you’re looking for a beach that feels that little more wild, peaceful and authentic, Skinaria Beach is definitely one to add to your list 💙

Down on the south coast near Plakias, Skinaria is a small, beautiful bay surrounded by rugged cliffs and clear turquoise water. It is far less built-up than many of Crete’s famous beaches and is particularly popular with those who love snorkelling and exploring underwater, thanks to the rocky seabed and excellent visibility. 🤿🐠

The road down to the beach is a little steep in places, but the views along the way are part of the adventure,and once you reach the bay, you’ll understand why it’s worth the drive. 🚗

Voulolimni - one of western crete’s little hidden gems 💎

Tucked away near chrisoskalitissa, in the far west of crete, voulolimni is not your typical beach..
It’s a small, almost circular natural lagoon, surrounded by rocks and connected to the sea through a narrow opening. The water can be incredibly calm and beautifully clear - making it feel more like a hidden swimming pool than a coastal spot 😍

There’s no big beach club, no rows of sunbeds and no mass tourism… just turquoise water, rugged cretan landscape and that feeling of having discovered somewhere special ✨

Psaromoura beach, a little gem on crete’s north coast! ✨

Just a short drive from agia pelagia, psaromoura is a beautiful little cove surrounded by rocky cliffs and some of the clearest turquoise water you’ll find along the north coast.

The sheltered bay is perfect for a refreshing swim, while the crystal-clear water makes it a lovely spot for snorkelling and discovering the underwater scenery. 🤿💦

it’s a small beach, which is part of its charm, so if you’re visiting during the busier months, we advise arriving early to secure a good spot! ☺️

Balos Lagoon! .. Undoubtably Crete's most stunning view 🇬🇷✨

If you’ve ever seen photos of Balos Lagoon, you’ll understand why it’s one of the places people dream about visiting in Crete… 😍

Turquoise and deep-blue waters, bright white sand and that incredible lagoon stretching out beneath the mountains - it honestly doesn’t look real! 🏝️

📍Located in the northwest of Crete, Balos is worth the effort to reach.

You can visit by boat, arriving from the sea and seeing the lagoon from a completely different perspective 🚤, or make your way there by road and enjoy the spectacular views as you approach.

💡 Crete Unlocked Tips: Many car rental compaines will not allow you to drive there due to the condition of the road. Also If you’re visiting in the warmer months, go early if you can - Balos can get very busy, and the experience is completely different when you have a little more space to enjoy the landscape.
And don't forget your camera… because you’ll probably want to photograph every single angle! 📸

Looking for somewhere a little quieter and away from the big organised beaches? Then put Spilies Beach on your list! 🏖️

Tucked away on Crete’s north coast, just east of Rethymno, this small pebble cove is surrounded by dramatic rocky cliffs and natural sea caves (which is where the name Spilies comes from).. 🌊⛰️

Its a gorgeous spot for swimming, exploring and simply enjoying the scenery. 🤿☀️

And you don’t have to worry about packing a whole picnic either! There’s a little taverna/beach bar where you can grab something cold to drink, a coffee or a light meal while enjoying the view 😍

Agia Galini! .. One of South Crete’s Little Gems 😌

Tucked into the south coast of Crete, Agia Galini is one of those places that seems to have a little bit of everything - a charming harbour, colourful houses climbing up the hillside, beautiful sea views and that relaxed Cretan atmosphere we all love. 💙

Wander through the narrow streets, browse the little shops and cafés, then make your way down to the picturesque harbour where fishing boats bob on the water ⛵️
There are also plenty of traditional tavernas where you can sit overlooking the sea and enjoy fresh fish and local Cretan dishes 🤤
And if you’re looking for a beach day, Agia Galini Beach is right on your doorstep 🏖️
