"The poet Alexandru Philippides sends this book to Milies, for his close family Εύα Σταμάτη Philippide, forty-five years later".
This is the dedication of the poet's grandson, Alexandru Philippide when giving the book to me, on 23.11.2024. It was a precious gift.
📯 The poem "Ode to a shadow" refers to our ancestor Daniel Philippides.
📍 Daniel Philippides was born around 1750, in Milies, a village on mount Pelion. He was a scholar, one of the most important personalities of the Greek Enlightenment period, acknowledged also in Roumania's cultural heritage.
🗝The house where Daniel Pilippides lived has been operating as a guesthouse since 2018. The guesthouse is managed by me, his great-granddaughter. I named the guesthouse Milies Historic Chalet Pelion in his honor.
