This July, Zagreb celebrated the 60th International Folklore Festival - Međunarodna Smotra Folklora Zagreb, turning city squares, parks and cultural venues into a vibrant stage of music, dance and heritage from Croatia and around the world. 🌍🎶

With 38 folklore groups participating, the anniversary edition highlighted the power of traditions to connect generations, cultures and communities through the theme “Sustainability and Resilience of Heritage.”

🌱 Zagreb brought together the global grapevine science community!

The 14th International Symposium on Grapevine Breeding and Genetics (GBG 2026), welcoming more than 300 scientists, researchers and experts from over 30 countries.

As one of the most prestigious international meetings in the field, the symposium provided a platform for sharing the latest research on grapevine genetics, genomics, breeding, disease resistance, climate change adaptation and the future of sustainable wine production.

Alongside a rich scientific programme, participants discovered Croatia’s wine heritage through excursions to Međimurje, Hrvatsko Zagorje and Moslavina, experiencing local terroirs, indigenous grape varieties and Croatian hospitality.

Events like GBG 2026 showcase the power of international meetings to connect knowledge, innovation and unforgettable destination experiences.

🌱 Zagreb je okupio svjetsku znanstvenu zajednicu posvećenu budućnosti vinove loze!

14. međunarodni simpozij o oplemenjivanju i genetici vinove loze (GBG 2026) okupio je više od 300 znanstvenika, istraživača i stručnjaka iz više od 30 zemalja svijeta.

Jedan od najvažnijih međunarodnih skupova u ovom području pružio je platformu za razmjenu najnovijih spoznaja o genetici i genomici vinove loze, razvoju novih sorti, otpornosti na bolesti, prilagodbi klimatskim promjenama te održivoj budućnosti proizvodnje grožđa i vina.

Uz bogat stručni program, sudionici su upoznali i hrvatsku vinsku tradiciju kroz stručne izlete u Međimurje, Hrvatsko zagorje i Moslavinu, gdje su otkrili različite terroire, autohtone sorte i posebnosti hrvatske eno-gastronomske ponude.

GBG 2026 još je jednom pokazao kako međunarodni kongresi povezuju znanje, inovacije i autentična iskustva destinacije.

🌍🛰️ This July, Zagreb became a meeting point for global expertise.

From 1–3 July, the Croatian capital hosted ICERS 2026 – the International Conference on Environmental Remote Sensing and GIS, welcoming more than 300 participants from 32 countries to discuss the future of Earth observation, GIS, AI and sustainable development.

Hosted at the National and University Library, the conference once again demonstrated Zagreb's ability to bring together world-class scientific events, international collaboration and authentic local hospitality.
