On this day 113 years ago, the RMS Titanic made her final port of call right here in Cobh - then known as Queenstown - before setting sail across the Atlantic.

123 passengers boarded the ship from the White Star Line pier — many seeking new lives. For many, it would be their last farewell on Irish soil. Seven passengers disembarked at Queenstown, including Fr. Frank Browne and the Odell family. Their photographs are the last surviving images of the Titanic on her maiden voyage.

Fr. Browne's iconic image of passengers waiting on the quayside was the inspiration for artist Jack Hickey's Titanic Mural which proudly stands on the Lower Road in Cobh.

Today, we remember the remarkable stories of those on board and the deep connection Cobh holds to one of history’s most poignant events.
