Last June weekend I mused very late about going abroad for a weekend break but flights were very expensive to the usual popular destinations ; so I thought what city in Europe would people be likely to be leaving for the weekend and then flights and hotels in to that destination might be cheap; EUREKA - Brussels -all the politicians are gone for the weekend ; I got an FR flight for € 110 return Dublin Brussels and the 5 star Metropole Hotel for € 47 per room incl b/b . Saw all the sights including dining at the best Vietnamese restaurant that I've ever experienced ;had a spare day so what to do ? another EUREKA moment - Bruges ; hopped on the train and had a fabulous day in that lovely destination ; did the Hop on Hop off tour and sat people watching over nice Dutch beer and local dishes; then some retail therapy - absolutely excellent shopping and good prices; Bruges is well worth a visit combined with Brussels.

I've always wanted to visit a number of the Scandinavian cities but time was a factor ; so after a little thought the solution was an NCL Baltic Cruise - and I visited Copenhagen, Stockholm,Helsinki,, St Petersburg,Tallinn - all in 8 days job done🙂 but St. Petersburg requires a revisit just to spend sufficient time in The Winter Palace .The other cities were equally as interesting . Most of Europe, a lot of USA, parts of Africa, a lot of The East, bit of Australia but still a lot to see and experience; there's an interesting world out there 😎 ; my favorites ? France ,USA East Coast ,Vietnam.South Africa - why , they're all great golf destinations,combined with good food ,great wine and lovely people ; Spain and Portugal are also great golf destinations in Europe; and Belek in Turkey has brilliant courses. Golf in China is on my hit list.
