The Tour de France 2026 Route was revealed yesterday. The Grand Depart will take place in Barcelona on the 4th July. The 3 weeks ahead feature the race's first opening team time trial since 1971, a double ascent of Alpe d'Huez on back to back stages, a difficult first week in the Pyrenees, a return to the Vosges mountains and yet again a finish across the Montmartre climb in Paris.

Stage 20 will feature 3 of our 10 Iconic climbs in what looks to be an epic days cycling - Col du Télégraphe, Col du Galibier and finishing on top of the myhtical Alpe d'Huez. Day 6 of our 10 Icons Tour and we face the Giant of Provence. An Icon amongst Icons. The Ventoux.

It stands alone, dominating everything for miles around. From afar it looks snow capped but that's just an illusion created by the bare limestone which covers the surface above tree line. From Bedoin, the climb measures 21.3km with 1,603m of ascent with an average of 7.5%.

The Ventoux is one of the most gruelling climbs in the Tours history and just to climb it once, is a justifiable achievment and a fitting end to our tour.

Day Five and our cyclists may require oxygen masks. Our guests take on the Col de la Bonette which reaches a height of 2,802m and is the highest paved through road in Europe. The climb starts modestly enough through lush meadows and then becomes progressively more desolate as the altitude rises. 24km long with an average gradient of 6.6% and a 15% pitch up with just over a km to go, this is a mountain that must be respected.
Voted the favourite climb by the majority of our clients and understandably so. To cycle almost 3km in to the sky by pedal power alone leaves our guests with an enormous scense of achievment and feeling on top of the world (well, Europe at least). Bravo to all our clients who summitted this phenomenal climb.🚴🤝💪

Day four and for most of our cyclists, the most important one. We take on Col d'Izoard and probably the most famous climb in the world of road cycling.....It's Alpe d'Huez day!

It doesn't get more mythical than Alpe d'Huez. The scene of countless battles, each of its 21 hairpins has its own story. And now it was time for our cyclists to write their own and that they did. Quite possibly the fastest group we have ever had to summit the Alpe, they celebrated together on top and straight on to conquer the Col d'Izoard. A massive day for all. No better way to finish off than dinner in a private chateau.

Again, chapeau to all cyclists and crew. We go again 🚴💪💪

Day Three 10 Icons French Alps Edition is our favourite day.

Two legendary Tour de France climbs were waiting for our cyclists - Col du Télégraphe and the Col du Galibier. Conditions were perfect and they needed to be. A long day in the saddle which brought our guests to an elevation of 2,642m. Our clients had sore legs and aching bodies but with the help of the Braking Away crew, pushed through this challenging day with smiles at the summits. Chapeau to all. 🚴🙌💪

Day Two of our 10 Icons French Alps Edition tested the will of our cyclists. A damp wet morning was followed by thunder storms and torrential rain at the summit of the Col du Glandon. A long day in the saddle but our guests pushed through with smiles on their faces. All legends 🚴💪💪😎
