Ashwani Lohani to be next Air India CMD
Ashwani Lohani, the Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation was appointed Chairman and Managing Director of Air India. He replaces the present MD & Chairman of Air India, Rohit Nandan, whose extended tenure ended on 21 August.
Rohit's three-year term as Chief of Air India had originally ended in 2014 but the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer was given a year's extension by the government.
Ashwani, who is a 1980 batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME), was accorded a three-year term after his appointment was approved by the appointments committee of the Cabinet.
"Lohani is a perfect choice for the job due to his considerable experience with public sector undertakings in the past and his operational experience as Divisional railway Manager in Delhi," said a source from the airline.
