🚨 RECOVERY UPDATE | BROAD PEAK
A search and recovery team led by renowned Nepali climber Mingma G recovered the bodies of four climbers, including Nirmal Purja “Nimsdai,” from around 5,700 metres on Broad Peak this afternoon.
The recovery operation was carried out under extremely challenging conditions in the high-altitude terrain.
Our deepest condolences go to the families, friends, teammates, and loved ones of all those who lost their lives. May their souls rest in peace.
Rest in Peace, Legends. Your courage and legacy will never be forgotten.

My Roopkund Trek Experience – More Than Just a Trek

Roopkund was one of those Himalayan journeys that I had heard about for years, but experiencing it personally was completely different.

Starting from Lohajung, the trail took us through beautiful forests, remote mountain villages and eventually the incredible Ali Bugyal and Bedni Bugyal. Walking through those endless green meadows with Mt. Trishul rising in the background was easily one of my favourite moments of the trek. ❤️

As we climbed higher, the landscape completely changed. Green meadows turned into rocky, cold terrain, the air became thinner, and every step started demanding more effort.

And finally, reaching Roopkund – the mysterious Skeleton Lake at around 5,000 metres was a feeling that’s difficult to put into words.

But when I think about Roopkund now, I don’t remember only the destination.

I remember the cold mornings, hot tea after a tiring climb, conversations with fellow trekkers, unpredictable Himalayan weather and those quiet moments when we simply stood there looking at the mountains.

The Himalayas have a way of reminding you how small you are.

Roopkund wasn’t just a trek for me. It was an experience I’ll carry for a long time.

🏔️ In Memory of the Climbers Lost on Broad Peak 🕯️

The mountaineering world is mourning after a devastating avalanche struck Broad Peak (8,047m) in Pakistan’s Karakoram Range, taking the lives of members of an international climbing team, including renowned Nepali mountaineer Nirmal “Nimsdai” Purja.

For those of us who love the mountains, news like this is especially difficult. Mountains give us dreams, courage and unforgettable experiences—but they also remind us how powerful and unpredictable nature can be.

At Firstrek, we extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, teammates and the entire mountaineering community affected by this tragedy.

Their journeys may have ended on the mountain, but their courage and passion for the high peaks will continue to inspire generations of adventurers.
