It is with profound sadness that we mourn the tragic passing of Nirmal “Nims Dai” Purja, MBE, and his fellow mountaineers during the Broad Peak expedition.
Nims Dai was more than an extraordinary mountaineer—he was a symbol of courage, resilience, humility, and the relentless pursuit of dreams. Through his historic achievements and unwavering determination, he inspired countless climbers around the world to believe that no summit is beyond reach when passion is matched with preparation and perseverance.
As mountaineers ourselves, we understand that every expedition is a journey filled with sacrifice, discipline, teamwork, and respect for the mountains. The Himalayas are breathtaking, yet unforgiving. Every climber who steps onto these great peaks accepts the risks in pursuit of a dream that few can truly understand.
This loss is deeply felt by the entire mountaineering community. Today, we remember not only a legendary climber but also every mountaineer who made the ultimate sacrifice in the mountains they loved.
This September, Team MUNNARADVENTURES® will embark on our own Himalayan expedition. We will carry the spirit of Nims Dai with us, and our summit will be dedicated as a humble tribute to his extraordinary legacy and to all the mountaineers who lost their lives. We will climb with respect, humility, and gratitude—honouring those who inspired us to dream beyond limits.
May their courage continue to inspire every climber who dares to chase the impossible. Their legacy will live on in every mountain, every rope, every camp, and every summit.
