The Gingee Fort, which is in Tamilnadu, just a 40Km from Tiruvannamalai; is so fortified that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Maratha king, ranked it as the "most impregnable fortress in India", and it was called the "Troy of the East" by the British. Fort complex is on three hillocks: Krishnagiri named after Krishna Kon to the north, Rajagiri or Anandagiri named after Ananda kon to the west[1] and Chakilidurg to the southeast. The three hills together constitute a fort complex, each having a separate and self-contained citadel. complex has a seven-storeyed Kalyana Mahal(marriage hall)which has a pyramidical shikhara or summit on top, granaries, prison cells, and a temple dedicated to its presiding goddess called Chenjiamman. The fortifications contain a sacred pond known as Aanaikulam.
Now, This fort is maintained by the Archeological Survey Of India..
It Has 1000 Steps to climb up to the hilltop, from where anyone can take a mesmerizing scenic beauty of surroundings.

# roadways:
5hrs Drive from BLR
1Hr Drive fTiruvannamalai
3.5Hr drive from Chennai
45min Drive from Tiruvannamalai

# Railways:
Nearest Stn is Villupuram Jnc.
Then take Bus or Auto for the Gingee fort.

# # Weather::
Too much heat for climbing up to the hilltop. It will take 3hrs for Up & Down. So better to visit in the morning to explore.
Only The trekking entrance will close on 3pm.
