Kolkata is a city where history lives on the streets—and every stop told a story.
🔹 Parasnath Jain Temple (Shree Sitalnath Temple) – One of the most important Jain temples in eastern India, admired for its serene atmosphere and intricate craftsmanship.
🔹 Mullick (Malik) Ghat Flower Market – Among Asia’s largest flower markets, buzzing since colonial times and offering a vivid glimpse into daily rituals along the Hooghly.
🔹 Howrah Bridge (Rabindra Setu) – An engineering marvel of 1943 and a symbol of Kolkata’s spirit, followed by a ferry ride offering timeless river views.
🔹 Victoria Memorial – A grand marble monument from the British era, now a museum narrating Kolkata’s colonial history.
🔹 Mutty Lall Seal Ghat – A historic riverside ghat named after a prominent 19th-century philanthropist.
🔹 Kumartuli – The Potters’ Colony – Where generations of artisans handcraft clay idols, keeping centuries-old traditions alive.
📚 College Street (Boi Para) – The intellectual heart of Kolkata, home to institutions that shaped modern India: Calcutta University, Hindu School, Hare School, Presidency University, Calcutta Medical College & Hospital, and The Sanskrit College and University—followed by classic conversations over coffee at the iconic Indian Coffee House ☕.
🌶️ The day also included shopping for Indian spices from a local market and a scenic drive through Colonial Calcutta, covering landmarks such as Eden Gardens, Fort William, General Post Office, Shaheed Minar, Akashvani Bhawan, Town Hall, Writers’ Building, Governor’s House, High Court, Maidan, Race Course, and St. Andrew’s Church—each reflecting the city’s layered past.
