Today, on International Tiger Day, we celebrate one of the world's greatest conservation success stories—the remarkable recovery of India's tiger population. 🐅🇮🇳

From just 1,411 tigers in 2006 to 3,682 in the 2022 official census, with current estimates placing the population at around 4,200 in 2026, India's commitment to wildlife conservation has delivered extraordinary results.

India is home to approximately 75% of the world's wild tigers, protected across 58 Tiger Reserves covering more than 84,500 square kilometres of forests and wilderness.

It is a powerful story of vision, dedication, scientific conservation, community participation, and unwavering commitment over decades. It reminds us that when governments, conservationists, local communities, and nature lovers work together, even the most endangered species can make a remarkable comeback.

Let us also renew our commitment to protecting their habitats so that future generations can continue to witness them thriving in the wild.
