Today, one of our best-sellers—the Taormina and Castelmola tour—turned out to be extra special for our guest of honor, John G.!

​Prior to the tour, he had informed us that his grandparents, Concetta and Rosario Stracuzzi, were born and raised in Castelmola in the 1890s before later emigrating to the United States.

​When we met him at the cruise port after he disembarked the Celebrity Ascent, he was so excited simply to visit Castelmola—a charming little village perched on a cliff right above Taormina. Little did he know, he was about to meet his second cousin, Maria, right there in town!

​Armed with the names of his grandparents, we reached out to our dear friends in Castelmola: the traffic officers with whom we collaborate every day to coordinate our tour buses in the town's tiny square.

​In just a few days, a traffic officer named Antonella—whose mother happened to be a Stracuzzi as well—managed to track down living relatives, thanks to the invaluable help and kindness of the registry officer at the town hall. They were all eagerly waiting for John’s arrival today, July 18th, 2026!

​It is hard to say what the most heartwarming moment was: the teary-eyed embrace when they first met, the moment Maria showed John ancient photos where he recognized his grandmother, uncles, and aunts, or when they sat together at a café sharing memories of their late relatives.

​What we know for sure is that we are forever grateful to have played a small part in such a beautiful milestone.

Thank you so much to all the kind people of Castelmola who helped us: we are so lucky to know you! The best thing of the small towns is the community living in it!
