Just across the Río de la Plata from Buenos Aires lies Uruguay, a country that makes a wonderful addition to an Argentina itinerary.

It’s smaller, quieter and has a character all of its own.

Montevideo is a lovely place to begin, with its historic architecture, waterfront promenade and excellent restaurants. Then there’s Colonia del Sacramento, where cobbled streets and beautifully preserved colonial buildings make it easy to spend an afternoon exploring.

Further along the coast, José Ignacio has become a favourite for understated luxury, with beautiful boutique hotels, exceptional restaurants and long, unspoilt beaches.

And Punta del Este offers a livelier coastal experience, with its marina, beach clubs and stylish places to stay.

Paired with Argentina, Uruguay adds a completely different dimension to a South American journey. It’s particularly appealing if you enjoy combining culture, food, w**e and beautiful hotels with a few days by the sea.

Argentina is a country of extraordinary contrasts, and it’s one that deserves far more than a quick stop in Buenos Aires.

Of course, the capital is a wonderful place to begin. Beautiful architecture, fabulous restaurants, neighbourhoods full of character and a café culture that makes it very easy to linger.

But travel further and you’ll discover an entirely different Argentina.

In Mendoza, vineyards stretch towards the Andes, with exceptional w**es and some beautiful places to stay.

Head south to Patagonia and the scenery changes dramatically, with glaciers, mountains and vast lakes.

And in the northeast, Iguazú Falls is one of South America’s most spectacular natural sights.

It’s a country where you can combine city life, food and w**e, remarkable landscapes and some truly memorable experiences in one journey.

And there’s another country that pairs beautifully with Argentina.

Some of the loveliest moments when travelling are the ones where you simply stop and take in the view.

And watching the sun set over the water, with the beautiful scenery of Europe passing by, is certainly one of them.

That’s part of the appeal of a Scenic luxury river cruise. You can explore historic cities, picturesque towns and beautiful countryside, all without having to pack and unpack as you travel.

With smaller ships, spacious suites, exceptional dining and an all-inclusive experience, it’s a wonderfully relaxed way to discover Europe.

And sometimes, the best part of the day is simply sitting back and watching the world go by.

A different kind of January escape.

I’ve recently booked a couple into The BodyHoliday in St Lucia for January, and it’s a fabulous choice if you’re looking for some winter sunshine with a little more to it than simply lying by the pool.

Set on a beautiful beach on St Lucia’s north-west coast, The BodyHoliday combines a luxury Caribbean escape with an impressive range of wellbeing experiences.

There’s yoga, Pilates, fitness classes, watersports and a wonderful spa, with a daily spa treatment included for eligible guests as part of the resort’s offering.

But you don’t have to spend your holiday following a wellness programme. You can be as active or as relaxed as you like, which is what makes it such an appealing option.

Mauritius. Two exceptional hotels. One fabulous holiday.

I’ve recently arranged a luxury holiday to Mauritius for clients who’ll be splitting their stay between two of the island’s most beautiful hotels: Royal Palm Beachcomber Luxury and One&Only Le Saint Géran.

Royal Palm is an intimate, elegant beachfront hotel on the north-west coast, known for its exceptional service, beautiful suites and wonderful dining.

One&Only Le Saint Géran, on the east coast, offers a different experience, with expansive grounds, a spectacular beachfront setting and plenty of space to relax.

Both are fabulous hotels in their own right, but combining them gives my clients the opportunity to experience two different sides of Mauritius without having to travel far.

It’s also a lovely reminder that you don’t necessarily need to visit several countries to enjoy a multi-centre holiday. Sometimes two carefully chosen hotels on the same island can work beautifully.

Easter skiing with Club Med!

I’ve recently booked a fantastic family ski holiday to Club Med Tignes for Easter, and it’s a brilliant option when you’re travelling with teenagers.

One of the biggest advantages of Club Med is how much is taken care of. Your accommodation, meals, drinks, lift passes and group ski lessons are all included, which makes organising a family ski holiday considerably easier.

And when you’re travelling with a larger family, particularly if everyone has different skiing abilities or interests, that makes a real difference.

Tignes is also a great choice for Easter skiing, thanks to its high-altitude slopes and access to the extensive Tignes–Val d’Isère ski area.

There are plenty of opportunities to spend time together, but equally, everyone can enjoy their own activities during the day and meet up afterwards.

One of the things that made my recent trip to Alaska so memorable was the wildlife.

I’d already had the incredible experience of watching black bears fishing for salmon at Neets Bay, but seeing seals in their natural habitat was another highlight. That big old splash! Love it!

Alaska is an incredible destination for anyone who loves wildlife, the outdoors and a little adventure. And seeing these animals in the wild is an experience that photographs and videos can only begin to capture.

Three destinations. Three beautiful hotels. One very special Christmas 💫

I’ve recently arranged a fabulous Christmas holiday for a family who wanted to combine some of Asia’s most exciting cities with a little time to relax.

First stop, Hong Kong, staying at the Mandarin Oriental. Then it’s on to Bangkok and the Kimpton, before finishing with a week at Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas.

It’s a fantastic way to experience three very different sides of Asia, with the excitement of exploring two cities followed by a dream stay in a beautiful private pool villa.

I worked closely with my clients to make sure they got everything they wanted out of this epic family Christmas trip: cities, bustle, shopping, food, culture and plenty of time to relax.

Christmas in the Maldives, anyone? 🌴☀️

I’ve recently arranged a rather spectacular Christmas getaway for a family at Sun Siyam Iru Fushi in the Maldives.

They’re staying in a gorgeous two-bedroom Aqua Retreat, set over the water with its own private pool.

The Maldives might be famous for romantic escapes and honeymoons, but it’s also a fantastic destination for families, particularly at Christmas.

Warm sunshine, beautiful beaches, snorkelling, watersports and plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. And, of course, absolutely no Christmas cooking or washing up!

When you’re travelling as a family, choosing the right accommodation makes all the difference. Having two bedrooms and your own private pool means there’s plenty of space to spend time together, but also room for everyone to enjoy a little peace and quiet.

It’s a wonderful combination of family time, adventure and relaxation, without any of the usual Christmas rushing around.

£4 million in travel sales! 🎉

Last week, I reached a pretty amazing milestone, and I wanted to share it with you all!

Since launching my Travel Counsellors business in July 2022, I’ve booked over £4 million worth of holidays for my clients. Something I’m incredibly proud of.

Although I’ve been running my own business for just over four years, I’ve actually worked in the travel industry for over 20 years, across both corporate and leisure travel.

Travel has been my career for a long time, and that experience makes a real difference to how I look after my clients.

Whether I’m planning a complicated multi-centre itinerary, finding exactly the right hotel or helping when something unexpected happens, there’s a huge amount of knowledge, research and work that goes on behind the scenes.

And as part of Travel Counsellors, I have the added reassurance of being backed by an established travel company, with all the support and resources that brings.

I feel incredibly lucky to do a job I love, and even luckier that I get to combine that passion with over 20 years of industry experience.

Most importantly, a huge thank you to everyone who has booked with me, recommended me or supported me over the past four years. I genuinely couldn't have reached this milestone without you!
