Back to school… and I think we covered all the bases this summer. ☀️

This year we managed Egypt, Switzerland and Mallorca - completely different family holidays, but all brilliant in their own way.

We’re quite an active family, so we love getting out, exploring and actually seeing somewhere rather than just staying by the pool. Between the three trips, I think we got a pretty good mix of adventure, mountains, beaches, culture and plenty of family time.

Now the school bags are back out and summer is officially over, I’m already starting to think about 2027 - both for my family and yours!

Safari first, beach second…

One of my favourite combinations to plan is Kenya followed by the Seychelles.

You get the excitement of early mornings, game drives and incredible wildlife, then finish with a few days somewhere completely different — white sand, warm sea and absolutely nothing urgent to do.

It works so well because the two parts of the trip feel worlds apart, but together they make such a brilliant holiday.

If you’re going all the way to East Africa, I always think it’s worth considering a beach stay at the end.

If I was planning the ultimate California road trip… 🇺🇸

I’d make the hotels part of the experience, not just somewhere to sleep.

A few of my picks would be:

✨ Fairmont Miramar, Santa Monica – perfect for starting by the coast, with the beach right there and plenty happening around you.

✨ Rosewood Miramar Beach – if you want something properly special, this is gorgeous. Right on the beach and very hard to leave.

✨ Carmel Valley Ranch – completely different vibes. More space, more nature - ideal for slowing things down.

✨ Autocamp Sequoia – a brilliant way to bring in the national parks without giving up all your comforts.

✨ Montage Laguna Beach – ocean views, beautiful setting and a great place to finish the trip.

If I wanted to make the most of the last few days of summer, I’d be heading straight back to Playa de Muro in Majorca. ☀️

Long stretches of soft sand, clear water and those easy breezy beach vibes that make it hard to leave!

It was one of my favourite spots from our recent family trip and exactly the kind of place that makes you want to hang onto summer for just a little bit longer.

A little Majorca holiday spam… ☀️

We stayed at Iberostar Selection Albufera Playa, which is such a brilliant option for families.

It’s actually two hotels in one resort - Albufera Park on one side, which is geared more towards younger children, and Albufera Playa on the other, which works really well for couples and families with older children.

The location is lovely too. Playa de Muro is absolutely gorgeous, with that clear shallow water Majorca does so well, and Alcudia is nearby for a wander around the old town, dinner and a change of scene.

A really easy family holiday, but still somewhere that feels special.

How cool is this? 🎾🌊

This is the overwater padel court at Emerald Faarufushi Resort & Spa in the Maldives.

It sits out over the lagoon, surrounded by turquoise water, and honestly… if you’re going to play padel anywhere, this feels like a pretty good place to do it.
