The yukata is a traditional Japanese clothing. Unlike formal kimono, yukata is typically made of cotton rather than silk, and is worn casually during the summer or for festivals. When you visit Kinosaki Onsen, which is known for its seven public bathhouses in the little town, the inn will provide you with yukata as relaxation wear and you can stroll along the willow-lined streets after changing into it.

Kinosaki Onsen is known for its seven public onsen (hot spring) spread out through town, but it also has around 40 private onsen inside various accommodations. The private hot spring baths inside ryokan, or traditional Japanese inns, can be used per reservation or on a first-come-first-served basis, sometimes for an extra charge. That way, guests can enjoy a relaxing soak either by themselves or with their friends, family, or partner, away from other guests. Private onsen are the perfect solution for those looking for a quiet, relaxing space to themselves at the hot springs.

Kinosaki Onsen is currently setting off fireworks over the canal for 5 minutes each weekday! Measures against COVID-19 are being taken by shortening the fireworks display time from the usual annual length and asking guests to wear a mask.
