Before it was Moi’s Bridge… it was Hoey’s Bridge. 👀🌉
The town we know today as Moi’s Bridge in Trans Nzoia has an interesting piece of North Rift history.
It got its original name from Arthur Cecil Hoey, who built a bridge across the Nzoia River to help move his ox teams across the river. A settlement later grew around the bridge.
After independence, the name changed to Moi’s Bridge.
So next time you're driving along the Eldoret–Kitale route, remember — there’s a story behind that name! 🇰🇪✨
