At Salt Lick Safari Lodge, every season offers a different way to experience the wild from incredible wildlife gatherings around the salt licks in the June to October dry season, to lush green landscapes and excellent bird watching during the November to December short rains.

January to March brings hot, dry conditions and excellent predator sightings, while the April to May long rains create lush scenery and dramatic skies, perfect for landscape photography. With spacious ensuite rooms overlooking the wilderness, your safari experience continues even from the comfort of your room.

SEAONS:

1.June to October – The dry season brings concentrated wildlife around permanent water sources, making it ideal for game viewing. Animals gather at the salt licks in large numbers, creating spectacular photographic opportunities.

2. November to December – Short rains transform the landscape into a green paradise, perfect for bird watching and photography. Many species are breeding plumage, and newborn animals add excitement to game drives.

3.January to March – Hot, dry conditions concentrate wildlife around waterholes, offering excellent predator sightings as hunters take advantage of predictable prey movements.

4.April to May – Long rains bring lush vegetation and dramatic skies, ideal for landscape photography.

Do you remember I mentioned that I believe the world still has magic and that it surely lives here in Ol Gaboli Conservancy, a unique destination in Laikipia, Kenya?. Recently, on a safari with our incredible guests, we witnessed a moment that few ever get to see. Three leopards together, one black, an extraordinary sight. Leopards are generally solitary and territorial. Adult males and females usually come together briefly to mate, or a female may stay with dependent cubs until they can hunt and survive on their own. So seeing three adult leopards together is highly unusual and can indicate a temporary interaction rather than leopards suddenly becoming social. # BlackLeopard

For as long as I can remember, I have been passionately intrigued by Africa, by the word itself, by its mystery, its wildness, and the stories hidden within its landscapes. To many of us, it is simply home.

If you believe the world still has magic as I do, then surely it lives here in Ol Gaboli Conservancy, a unique destination in Laikipia, Kenya.

A black leopard walking through the savannah, carrying itself with a quiet confidence seemingly indicating it already knows what we are only beginning to understand: it is rare, it is unique, and it is beautiful.

The eye can easily be deceived. In the right light, the leopard's famous spots can disappear into a coat of darkness, revealing themselves only when the sun catches them just right. A master of camouflage. A creature that can be seen, yet somehow remain hidden.

If there is one more thing you should do in this lifetime, let it be this: go on safari with us.

It’s a quiet way of communicating, helping them know who has been there, whether an area is occupied, and sometimes even helping individuals find one another.
