The klipspringer (scientific name: Oreotragus oreotragus) is a small, sturdy antelope found in eastern and southern Africa
Appearance: Klipspringers have a yellowish-gray to reddish-brown coat that provides excellent camouflage in their rocky habitats. They are small, standing about 43-60 cm (17-23 inches) at the shoulder and weighing between 8-18 kg (18-40 pounds).
Habitat: They are typically found in rocky terrains with sparse vegetation, which helps them avoid predators.
Behavior: Klipspringers are known for their unique gait, walking on the tips of their cylindrical, blunt hooves. This adaptation allows them to navigate rocky surfaces with ease2. They are also monogamous, forming lifelong pair bonds and staying within close proximity to their mates.
Diet: Primarily browsers, klipspringers feed on young plants, fruits, and flowers.
Reproduction: The gestation period for klipspringers is around six months, after which a single calf is born. The calf stays with its mother until it is about a year old.
