Official Statement
I, Hon. CEO RAMA, your incoming Governor of 032 City, Nakuru County, wish to address the matter of the ongoing demonstrations.
We acknowledge and respect the organizers of the demonstrations. The right to demonstrate and picket is enshrined in our Constitution, and we uphold that right without reservation.
However regarding the demonstrations and property looting in Naivasha Town: while we fully support peaceful picketing and lawful demonstration, we strongly condemn looting and the destruction of property. Such acts are senseless, barbaric, and retrogressive. As the CEO of _Visit Naivasha Kenya_, I consider these actions unacceptable, and this conduct must cease immediately. We must learn to agree to disagree, and we must all respect our investors, regardless of their political affiliations.
How many of our people have benefited from these investments? Today, many of you reach out to my office seeking employment opportunities and assistance. Yet when we market our town as a premier business hub and investors respond, some fail to appreciate the value they bring. As leaders and as aspiring public servants, we must not question the source of an investor’s capital or their identity. I will stand firmly with all investors.
The majority of the people of Naivasha are from the Kikuyu community, and the Kikuyu people understand the immense effort required to build an enterprise. It is therefore inconceivable that any legitimate businessman or woman would burn or destroy another’s property.
As _Visit Naivasha Kenya_, our core mandate is to protect all investors, irrespective of their political affiliation.
What we have been doing is something that all elected leaders today, combined, neither can nor will ever be able to do. I have become a threat, feared and opposed, because I put my people and my town first. I understand what other leaders cannot.
Hon. CEO RAMA
Incoming Governor, 032 City, Nakuru County
