interesting facts;
~ Worlds largest bird
~ Males have a sport black plumage with a white tail
~ Females are mostly brown
~ they have huge eyes (which are bigger than their brains) giving them excellent eyesight
~ can cover 5metres in a single stride and reach speeds of over 70kms/hr
~ live in groups called herds
~ have the largest eggs averaging around 15cm long, weighing upto 1.5kgs
~ eggs take around 40days to hatch

interesting facts;
~ characterised by it's long slender kneck and limbs
~ rarely drink water as the plants they feed on have enough water to sustain them
~ have preorbital glands in front of their eyes
~ also have scent glands on their knees and in the split of their hooves
~ the females are extremely caring Mothers, they clean their young ones immediately after birth and feed their young ones 2 - 3 times a day
~ while feeding they stand on their hind legs & uses the fronts legs to graze from tree branches
~ they are considered a threatened species
