This past weekend, 7 members of the African Ascents team completed an intensive 2-day Wilderness First Aid course hosted at Batian View and facilitated by the incredible instructors from SOLO Schools Africa โ Kanja, Melissa, and Ruguru. ๐๏ธ๐ฉบโ๏ธ
The training was rigorous, practical, and deeply valuable. From learning how to safely approach and assess a scene, gain patient consent, and perform systematic evaluations, to treating suspected fractures, sprains, asthma attacks, anaphylactic shock, heat-related illnesses, hypothermia, and more โ every scenario reinforced one important truth: in the wilderness, situations can escalate incredibly quickly. ๐ง๏ธโ ๏ธ๐ฅพ
At African Ascents, mountain safety is never an afterthought. It is a core part of who we are and how we operate. Whether guiding clients at altitude or navigating remote environments, proper preparation and high-quality medical training are essential. ๐ช๐พ๐๏ธ๐งญ
Training with reputable organizations and experienced instructors who truly understand mountain environments is an absolute must. The knowledge, judgement, and confidence gained in these settings can make all the difference when it matters most. ๐ ๐
A huge thank you to the SOLO Schools Africa team for sharing their expertise and challenging us throughout the weekend. Weโre proud to continue investing in the skills that help keep our team and our climbers safe in the mountains. ๐๐พโฐ๏ธ
