It was formerly known as Port Florence but reverted its name to Kisumu, which literally means barter trade “sumo” among the luo community who are the dominant population in the region. Initially, Amboseli National Park was referred as Maasai Amboseli Game Reserve. It is one of the best wildlife viewing park with over 400 bird species and provides the best view of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Actually, the name Amboseli came from a Maasai word Empusel, meaning “salty dusty place in Maa. This is the best park to visit if you want to get close to free-ranging elephants.
