A very impressive Hindu temple situated on top of a 547 meter high hill in the Dangrek Mountain range in the northeast of Cambodia, near the Thai border. With one of the most spectacular settings in Cambodia, Preah Vihear highlights include its unique architectural style, adapted to the natural setting of the monument, and the stunning views over Cambodia and Thailand from the top of the hill. This temple was built over a period of 300 years by different Kings .The construction began in the early 9th century during the reign of King Yasovarman I, but most of the temple was built by King Suryavarman I in the 10th century and King Yasovarman II in 12th century, Dedicated to Hindu God Shiva. Preh Vihear Temple was inscribed in the list of World Heritage sites by UNESCO on 07th July 2008. Spend some time to explore the temple, Buddhism pagoda locates on mountain, and view the countries from the cliff.

The archaeological site of Sambor Prei K*k (in the Khmer language : the temple in the richness of the forest) , has been identified as Ishanapura, the capital of the Chenla Empire that flourished in the late 6th and early 7th centuries AD, built by King Isanavarman I locates 30kms north of Kampong Thom town. The property comprises ore than a hundred temples, ten of which are octagonal, unique specimens of their genre in South-East Asia. Decorated sandstone elements in the site are characteristic of the pre-Angkor decorative idiom, known as the Sambor Prei K*k Style. Some of these elements, including lintels, pediments and colonnades, are true masterpieces. The art and architecture developed here became models for other parts of the region and lay the ground for the unique Khmer style of the Angkor period.
