Good morning, everyone! Welcome to our journey to Phnom Kulen—the sacred mountain of Cambodia.
Located about 50 kilometers northeast of Siem Reap, this isn’t just a nature escape. Phnom Kulen is considered the birth site of the ancient Khmer Empire. Back in the year 802 AD, King Jayavarman II declared independence right here, crowning himself Chakravartin—the 'Universal King'—and founding the empire that built Angkor Wat.
Today, we’re going to explore sacred riverbed carvings, visit Cambodia’s largest reclining Buddha, and wrap up with a refreshing swim at the waterfalls!"
