🎉 It’s Official! Hin Nam No National Park is Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site 🌏🌿
On 13 July 2025, during the 47th Session of the World Heritage Committee in Paris, Hin Nam No National Park, located in Boualapha District, Khammouane Province, Lao PDR, was officially inscribed as a Transboundary World Heritage Site—an extension of Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park in Quang Tri Province, Viet Nam. 🤝
🌄 Recognized for its Outstanding Universal Value, Hin Nam No features:
• One of Southeast Asia’s oldest karst landscapes
• The extraordinary Xe Bang Fai Cave
• Vital habitats for rare and endangered species like the Great Hornbill, Lao Rock Rat, and Southern White-cheeked Gibbon 🐾🐒
💬 This global recognition is the result of years of cooperation between the Lao Government, local communities, and international partners, with support from German Development Cooperation (implemented by GIZ) and co-financing from the European Union.
🌱 Hin Nam No is more than a biodiversity hotspot—it's a living example of cross-border conservation, connecting ecosystems and communities across Laos and Viet Nam.
🤝 This inscription reflects the power of international cooperation, strong national leadership, and meaningful community involvement in achieving shared goals for conservation and sustainable development.
