Horton Plains National Park is a national park in the central highlands of Sri Lanka that was designated in 1988. It covers an area of 31km² . It is located at an elevation of 2,100–2,300 m (6,900–7,500 ft) and encompasses montane grassland and cloud fores. Temperature fluctuates between 0'C and 27'C. It is rich in biodiversity and many species found here are endemic to the region.Horton Plains National Park is a renowned birdwatching destination, home to 21 of Sri Lanka's 34 endemic bird species. Some of the most frequently sighted endemics include the Sri Lanka Yellow-eared Bulbul, Sri Lanka Wood Pigeon, Sri Lanka White-eye, Dull-blue Flycatcher, Sri Lanka Bush Warbler, and Sri Lanka Whistling Thrush. The park also offers sightings of Sri Lanka Spurfowl and Sri Lanka Junglefowl.
