This 25-day journey through Madagascar, shared with this wonderful family, begins with the iconic Route Nationale 7 (RN7), heading south from Antananarivo to Ifaty. Along the way, the route passes through the charming highland town of Antsirabe, known for its thermal springs, and Ambositra, the heart of traditional Zafimaniry woodcarving. Further south, lush rainforests await in Ranomafana National Park, home to a remarkable variety of endemic wildlife. The scenery shifts dramatically in the Isalo National Park, with its dramatic canyons, natural pools, and sandstone formations, before reaching the idyllic coastal village of Ifaty, where the dry spiny forest meets the turquoise waters of the Mozambique Channel. The adventure continues north via the more remote RN9, crossing through the isolated town of Manja, offering a deeper look into rural Malagasy life. The journey then reaches Morondava on the west coast, the gateway to the dry deciduous forest of Kirindy Reserve, known for its rare species like the fosa, and the legendary Avenue of the Baobabs, a must-see at sunset. From there, the route leads to Bekopaka, accessed via rugged tracks and river crossings, where the spectacular Tsingy de Bemaraha, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers breathtaking limestone pinnacles and suspended walkways. After this western adventure, the trip shifts to the east with a stop in Andasibe, famous for its lush rainforest and the haunting call of the indri indri, the largest living lemur. Finally, the journey winds down in the peaceful haven of Akaikinโny Nofy (โthe nest of dreamsโ), nestled along the Pangalanes Canal, where serene lakes and traditional fishing villages create a perfect contrast to the wild interior. The tour concludes with a return to Antananarivo, wrapping up an unforgettable adventure filled with discoveries, shared laughter, and meaningful moments with this amazing family.
