I almost talked myself into saying yes.

Because when you’re building a business, turning down a booking can feel a little terrifying. Especially when the inquiry sounds beautiful on paper.

But over time, I’ve learned something:
Not every couple is the right fit.

The wedding vision was gorgeous.
But every conversation centered around aesthetics, upgrades, and “the dream” without much thought about the people flying there to celebrate with them.

And for me? Guest experience matters deeply.

I want your wedding to feel incredible for you and the people showing up for you.

That means being intentional about budget, logistics, comfort, flow, and what the weekend actually feels like for everyone involved.

Saying no to this booking helped me get clearer on who I serve best.

Five days in the Riviera Maya. First trip away with my husband since having our boys. I needed it more than I realized.

We stayed at Unico 20°87° and I did site inspections at Secrets Akumal, Secrets Tulum, and Hard Rock while I was there because work never fully stops. But here’s what actually surprised me: four resorts, same destination, four completely different experiences.

Resorts my brides are choosing right now and what makes each one stand out:

UNICO 20°87° — The “we want great food, great drinks, and a modern aesthetic that feels like us” pick. It’s romantic without trying too hard and always makes my couples feel like the weekend is a little elevated.

Hyatt Ziva — The “our guests are going to have the BEST time” choice. Amazing entertainment, a gorgeous setting, and the kind of energy that keeps the whole group happy from poolside to reception night.

Atelier Playa Mujeres — The “we’re picky in the best way” favorite. Polished, adults-only, and so consistent with service, cocktails, and atmosphere. It’s the resort your guests will rave about for months.

Every bride has a different vibe, but these three keep showing up on my couples’ shortlists for a reason.

After visiting dozens of Mexico resorts, these are the ones I’d pick if I re-did my own wedding. Simple, beautiful, great food, and the kind of guest experience that makes everyone happy.

Call me crazy, but Scotland might actually be the closest thing we have to a real-life fantasy realm.
The cliffs. The castles. The moody, cozy energy that feels straight out of a slow-burn love story. If your honeymoon vibe is soft, romantic, and a little book-lover dreamy… Scotland just hits different.
