Ever wish you could spend just 10 minutes back in Africa?

Lately, we’ve had the live we**am from Great Plains Ol Donyo Lodge playing in the background while planning safaris. It’s become a bit of a daily ritual.

You never quite know what’s going to wander into the waterhole. Over the past few days alone, we’ve watched elephants with Mount Kilimanjaro standing proudly in the background, an elusive striped hyena, a serval, lions, giraffe and oryx - all without leaving our desks.

It’s not quite the same as being there (nothing ever is!), but it’s a wonderful little reminder of why we love safari.

If you’re missing Africa or simply need a peaceful second screen while you’re working, making dinner or enjoying a morning cuppa, it’s well worth a look.

We’ll pop the link in comments below so you can see what’s happening live.

Fair warning: what starts as “just a quick look” has a habit of becoming part of your daily ritual too.

PROPERTY OF THE WEEK:

This week we’re shining a light on Damaraland Camp in Namibia.

We’ve recently had guests return from a stay here and one theme kept coming back in their feedback: the people.

Of course, the scenery is spectacular. Damaraland’s rugged mountains, desert-adapted wildlife and wide-open spaces make it one of Namibia’s most memorable regions.

But what really stood out was the warmth, hospitality and genuine care shown by the camp team throughout their stay.

Sometimes it’s the wildlife that steals the show. Sometimes it’s the people.

In this case, it sounds like both delivered.

Safari Guru Jess has been back on the road, exploring some of Southern Africa’s best family-friendly, malaria-free safari experiences.

Research can be tough sometimes…

While there’s plenty to assess when visiting lodges, it’s often the unexpected moments that tell the story best.

This little elephant traffic jam at was one of them.

No rush. Just three Ellie’s taking their time, and reminding us who’s really in charge out here.

There is a particular kind of luxury that does not need to announce itself.

It is found in the stillness of a sunrise game drive with no other vehicle in sight. In a beautifully designed camp hidden deep in the wilderness. In the rare pleasure of experiencing Africa without the crowds.

In our latest blog, we explore the rise of the quiet luxury safari — a more personal, spacious, and deeply restorative way to experience Africa.

From Botswana and Zambia to South Africa and beyond, discover where safari feels most exclusive, not because it is loud, but because it is rare.

When arriving at the new Bisate Reserve in Rwanda, you cannot help but feel that you’ve arrived in one of the most refined safari camps in Africa. Yes, there are slicker, shinier, and more luxurious ones, but none wrap you with warmth and ooze personality quite like this.

And with the Volcanoes National Park boundary changes fast encroaching, this exclusive safari camp will soon be right in the thick of it. We were treated to Primate sightings from camp, a glowing fire, and a glass of aged red, which made it feel as though the best ‘activity’ was simply being there. Camp life at Bisate Reserve is certainly a treat.

You should consider Bisate Reserve for your next gorilla trek adventure in Rwanda.

Did you know: An estimated 3,740 hectares of new protected habitat will be added to Volcanoes National Park, part of a 23% expansion designed to ease space pressures on the growing mountain gorilla population and support their long-term conservation.

Proof that conservation efforts in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda, are having a very positive effect on gorilla populations. There have been significant increases in numbers, with additional families being formed.

Thanks to your support, and the positive effects of tourism 💚
