Today you hike. Properly.
The Waterkloof Trail is 17 km long. 6 to 8 hours. Medium to hard. You need to be fit and have stamina. But those who do will be rewarded. That's a promise. 🏔️

The Naukluft mountains have streams that flow year-round. In the middle of Namibia. Sounds strange – but it's true. Along the trail there are several swimming spots in crystal clear water. Just jump in. Right in the middle of the wilderness. 💧
And then the wildlife. Walk quietly and you stand a chance of spotting mountain zebras, kudus, klipspringers, baboons. Black eagles circle overhead. Owls sit somewhere in the shade. No zoo. No fence. Just Namibia.
The evening? Tired. Happy. Full of impressions. 🌿

Heute wird gewandert. Richtig gewandert.
Der Waterkloof Trail ist 17 km lang. 6 bis 8 Stunden. Mittelschwer bis schwer. Du solltest fit sein und Ausdauer mitbringen. Aber wer das tut, wird belohnt. Versprochen. 🏔️

Die Naukluftberge haben ganzjährig fließende Bäche. Mitten in Namibia. Das klingt seltsam und ist trotzdem wahr. Auf dem Trail gibt es mehrere Bademöglichkeiten in kristallklarem Wasser. Einfach einspringen. Mitten in der Wildnis. 💧
Und dann die Tiere. Wer leise wandert, hat Chancen auf Bergzebras, Kudus, Klippspringer, Paviane. Schwarzadler kreisen oben. Eulen sitzen irgendwo im Schatten. Kein Zoo. Kein Zaun. Einfach Namibia.
Den Abend? Müde. Glücklich. Satt von Eindrücken. 🌿

🇬🇧 DAY 4 NAUKLUFT. THE MOUNTAINS THAT SURPRISE YOU.
Today you leave the desert. And suddenly mountains.
You drive south on the beautiful C14. Stop in Solitaire. Fuel up, breathe, and whatever you do, try the famous apple cake. The reputation is well earned. 🍎
Then Naukluft Restcamp. The contrast to the desert couldn't be greater.

In the afternoon it's the Olive Trail. Around 4 hours. Medium to hard. You shouldn't be afraid of heights. Not keen on climbing chains over steep rock faces? No problem, there's an alternative route up to a natural mountain pool. Crystal clear spring water. In the middle of Namibia. 💧
Sounds unbelievable? It is.

🇩🇪 TAG 4 NAUKLUFT. DAS GEBIRGE, DAS DICH ÜBERRASCHT.
Heute verlässt du die Wüste. Und plötzlich steht da ein Gebirge.
Durch die wunderschöne C14 fährst du weiter in den Süden. Stopp in Solitaire. Tanken, durchatmen, und unbedingt den berühmten Apfelkuchen probieren. 🍎
Dann das Naukluft Restcamp. Der Kontrast zur Wüste könnte kaum größer sein. Schroff. Grün. Unerwartet.

Am Nachmittag geht es auf den Olive Trail. Etwa 4 Stunden. Mittelschwer bis schwer. Schwindelfrei sollte man sein. Wer nicht gerne an Ketten über Felsen klettert, wandert alternativ zum natürlichen Gebirgspool weiter oben. Glasklares Bergquellwasser. Mitten in Namibia. 💧

Klingt unglaublich? Ist es auch.

Rostock Ritz has trails for everyone, from an easy stroll to a full day hike out to ancient San rock paintings. You start early. Really early. Because sunrise in the Namib is exactly the reason you get out of bed. 🌅
Breakfast. Then back out again.
Feel like hiking to the Bushman rock art? Thousands of years old, right there in the desert. Rather just sit with the silence? Nobody's judging.
The afternoon? Pool. Just be. Let the desert sink in. 🌿
Namibia doesn't need a full itinerary. Sometimes less really is more.

Die Rostock Ritz Desert Lodge hat Wanderwege von einem entspannten Spaziergang bis zur Ganztagstour zu den Felszeichnungen der San. Du startest früh. Wirklich früh. Denn der Sonnenaufgang in der Namib ist das, wofür man morgens aufsteht. 🌅
Danach Frühstück und dann nochmal raus.
Wer Lust hat, wandert zu den uralten Felszeichnungen der Buschmänner. Jahrtausende alte Bilder, mitten in der Wüste. Wer lieber einfach die Stille genießt, dem wird auch das niemand übel nehmen.
Den Nachmittag? Einfach am Pool verbringen. Die Wüste wirkt nach. 🌿
Namibia braucht keinen vollen Terminkalender. Manchmal ist weniger mehr.

Through the rugged Khomas Highlands on the C26, we head west – towards the Namib desert. The landscape transforms with every bend in the road. Over the scenic Gamsberg Pass we descend into the lower plains of the oldest desert on earth. 🌅
