I am an expert guide and most of all a local. Everyday (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) at 9:00 am in the morning and in the afternoon at 2:00 pm, I walk through the city showing visitors the most exc

iting places of my hometown. Morning Shift: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

Old ways. New faces. Kathmandu never disappoints. 🇳🇵

Today’s walk took us through the heart of the city and it was one of those days that reminds you why this tour exists.

We stopped to watch an old man sharpening scissors the way it’s been done for generations. No machines. No shortcuts. Just skill and patience.

Then Indrachowk where we grabbed the best local lassi in town. Thick, sweet, and the perfect break before climbing up to Swayambhunath.

And of course, the monkeys. Always entertaining. Always watching.

But the real magic? The Newari hymns we walked into sung with so much heart, it stopped us in our tracks. Local people, keeping their culture alive through song.

Our guests today came from different corners of the world. But by the end of the walk, we all felt like we’d seen the real Kathmandu.

That’s what this tour is about. Not just temples and landmarks but the people, the sounds, the everyday moments that make this city unforgettable.

Stepping into one of Kathmandu's hidden gems: Kaathe Swayambhu, also known as Shreegha Vihar.

This isn't just another stupa. It's a miniature replica of Swayambhunath, built around 1650 AD, tucked away in the heart of the city . Most tourists walk right past it but on our free walking tour, we stop here. We tell you the legend behind it, the 13 steps that symbolize the path to Nirvana, and why this place has been a spiritual stop for centuries .

The free walking tour came to Nepal after the 2015 earthquake with Shiva's way of showing that Kathmandu was still alive, still beautiful. 12 years later, it's still free. Still showing people the real city.

The free walking tour came to Nepal after the 2015 earthquake. 🇳🇵

It was Himkala Adventure's way of showing the world that Kathmandu was still alive, still beautiful. We took inspiration from the free tours in Europe. But we made it ours.

And over time, it sort of became a brand. The first free walking tour in Nepal.
