ITINERARY:
DAY 01: Kathmandu to Kerung/Kyirong - 2700m (175 KM – Around 8 Hours)
Early morning, we will start the trip on the black-topped roads to get to the friendship
bridge at the Nepal-Tibet border or the Rasuwagadhi - Kyirong border. After lunch We
will finish formalities of Nepal immigration and drive to Friendship bridge at Nepal
Tibet boarder. Finish all formalities at Tibet immigration and heading towards at the 1st
village of Tibet, Kyirong. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 02: Acclimatization Kerung/Kyirong
Day at Kerung for acclimatization. After your breakfast, our guide will take you 3
to 4 hours hiking at near hill. It is very helpful to adjust your body in high altitude
and helpful to get fit to reach Kailash. come back to Hotel and take your lunch.
Free walking around city.
Day 03: Kerung/Kyirong to Saga – 4640m (170 Km – Around 5 Hours)
Early morning after breakfast we are heading toward Saga, the path climbs up and down
the passes of Gongtang La before getting us comfortably to the village of Saga. Along
the way, we will be able to see Lake Peikutso and the typical yak and sheep grazing
technique of the Tibetan people. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 04: Saga to Mansarovar Lake - 4558m (460 Km - Around 6 Hours)
After an early breakfast, we will drive towards the highest fresh Water Lake in the world.
The holy lake of Manasarovar, Lying at an altitude of 4558 meters with a greenish-blue
color. It is believed that the lake was once a resting place of Lord Bishnu. It is
surrounded by Mt. Kailash, Mt. Gurula-Mandala and the Lake Rakshash (Rakshash
Taal). Lake Rakshash is believed to be created by the evil King Ravan which is why the
locals think the water here is poisonous. Complete Parikrama (Kora) of Manasarovar
Lake by vehicle (2 hrs,110 km). Overnight at Guest House.
Day 05: Exploration of Manasarovar and Drive to Darchen - 4650m (40 Km -
Around 2 Hours) Overnight at guest house
Today Wake up early morning, we will get into the colors of religion and explore the
holy lake of Manasarovar . You will have enough time to explore Lake Manasarovar
and surroundings. Morning Visit Chiu Monastery, Puja or Havan and take bath at
Mansarovar. It is only short drive to Darchen and we will do it only after Lunch.
Darchen is the base camp of Mount Kailash from where we start our Kailash
Parikrama. preparation of Kora and stay overnight.
Darchen - Tirthapuri (Guru Rembuche Cave) to Darchen - 4650m (85 Km -
Around 5 Hours) - Optional only for interested person can pay direct to Tibetan
guide.
Drive to Tirthapuri, Tirthapuri lies 28 miles southwest of Mount Kailash and is the
site of a sacred hot spring, as well as a Guru Rinpcohe cave. It is the third most
important pilgrimage site in Western Tibet after Kailash and Manasarovar, and was
formerly visited by Hindu pilgrims before going on to Kailash, though now many
come after. we will get into the colors of religion and explore the holy Cave and old
monastery and take a dip in natural holy hot spring water. We will perform some
rituals (Puja) and get going back to the village of Darchen. The village is situated right
infront of the sacred Mt. Kailash and is call basecamp of Darchen. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 06: Drive to valley of the God (7km). Start Kailash Parikrama (trekking 4/5
Hours). Reach at Derapuk (4,900 miters) and overnight at Guest House
We will drive to the small settlement of Tarboche. Tarboche is the starting point of the
Kailash Kora. Yamadwar, the gateway of the God of Death, is located in Tarboche. We
will do some puja (Rituals) in Yamadwar and from here, we will walk a few hours to
arrive at the village of Drerapuk, situated in front of you can clearly see the southern
and western slopes of the sacred Mount Kailash. It is a mild and moderate trek for
the first day. The altitude rises slowly and there are some mild ups and downs, which
is easy to handle. You'd better begin your trek in the early morning. You may hire a
porter and yaks to carry your day packs. Once you reach in Dirapuk, follow our guide
to explore the Dirapuk Monastery (also known as Zhire Temple). Overnight at Local
Guesthouse.
Optional (If you reach early in Dirapuk and if PSP allow: Trek to Charansparsa
from North face of Kailash. Return back to Derapuk (8/9 Hours)
Today is the most important and hippest day of your Mount Kailash trek. The
expedition to touch Mount Kailash is highly adventurous and includes an extended
exploration of glaciers and ice rivers.
Excursion tour to Touch Kailash, Shavasthali if you reach early in Dirapuk. You can
request to our Nepali tour leader and Tibetan guide to Excursion tour around the north
face of Kailash, reach to the Spiritual place where we will be very close to Mt. Kailash.
We will have spiritual activities, meditation on “Charan Sparsh” Touch Kailash (lower
point only till glacier 5050m and upper advance point is 5340m), the north face of
Kailash., trek from Dirapuk Monastery up the mountain until reaching the glacier
on the western slope of Mount Kailash at an altitude of about 5340 meters. Here, our
guide will lead you to at the center of the world. For those in good physical condition,
our guide will accompany you to get closer to Mount Kailash and attempt to touch
Mount Kailash. After this extraordinary experience, you’ll return to Dirapuk
Monastery along the same route.
Note: The possibility of touching Mount Kailash depends on the specific terrain
environment, natural calamities, landslides, adverse weather condition as the glaciers
change with the seasons.
DAY 07: Dirapuk to Zutrulpuk Via Drolma La - 4760m (18km – Around 8 Hours)
Today is the most challenging part of the Kailash Kora. We walk up the highest pass of
Dolma-La (5630m) to arrive at the village of Zutrulpuk and you need to take it
extremely careful with the drastic ascent and descent during the trek. 4-kilometer trek
from Dirapuk Monastery to reach 5430 meters. From here you are able to see
breathtaking view of the sunrise over the northwest slope of Mount Kailash. Afterward,
you’ll continue another 2-kilometer trek to Dolma La Pass. As a suggestion, do not
stay at Dolma La Pass for too long, the thin air and strong wind might be harmful. First,
we will be heading to the village of Jarok Donkhang. From there, we will hike towards
the Shiva-stal. We will rest here for some time and then, take a steep downhill to get to
the banks of the Lham-chu Khir River. We catch sight of the Holy Pond of
‘Gaurikunda’. After some time, we reach the village of Zutrulpuk. The place got its
name from the famous cave of Zutrulpuk or ‘the miracle cave’. Along the way, we will
be able to catch sight of the Buddha’s footprints. Overnight at Guest House.
Day 08: Zutrulpuk to Saga (Kora Ends) = 4640 m (500 Km – Around 9 Hours)
During the morning, we will be exploring the caves and temples around the Milarepa
cave. After breakfast, we will hike some 3-4 hours to complete our Kora and get back
to the village of Darchen for the settlement. We'll eat there for lunch before heading
back to Saga. Overnight at Hotel.
DAY 09: Saga to Kerung/ Kyirong -2700 m (170 Km – Around 5 Hours)
We will take a nice ride on paved Tibetan roads back to the settlement of Kerung, which
is at the border between Nepal and Tibet. Stay overnight at Tibet site of Kerung,
today is our day off, so we may relax and spend the night at a Hotel in Kerung.
DAY 10: Kerung/ Kyirong to Kathmandu - 1400m (180 Km – Around 8 Hours)
After completing the immigration procedures at the Nepal-Tibet border, it is also time
to say good bye to our Tibetan team. We will clear Nepal immigration procedure and
have lunch and drive back to Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. Now our team say you good
bye. You are free for your own activities yourself.
