During the high season, from May through to September, there are many daily festivals that give the impression of long-lived ancient Inca traditions! sco and its surrounding archeological sites, such as Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, and Tipon, are just a taster of what is to be found just a 4-hour train ride or four-day trek away. Most visitors come for a couple of days to the city of Cusco to acclimatize to the high altitude of around 3,400m and then head off on their adventures to discover Machu Picchu.
