TOURISM BEYOND THE VIEW | A JOURNEY THROUGH HERITAGE

Some partnerships become part of a journey long before we realize how meaningful they will become.

Since the beginning of the 500 Year Walk project in 2018, Casa Gorordo Museum has been one of our valued partners in our journey of discovering, understanding, and sharing Cebu’s heritage.

Today, we are happy to share this meaningful conversation on tourism and heritage, featuring our very own Maria Lorena P. Guba, as she reflects on why historical and cultural places matter in tourism.

For us at 500 Year Walk, heritage has always been about more than looking back. It is about understanding the stories that shaped us, recognizing the people and places that carry those stories, and bringing these lessons forward.

Because when we walk through heritage, we don’t simply walk through places, we walk through layers of memory, history, and identity.

Thank you, Casa Gorordo Museum, for continuing to be part of this journey.

From 2018 and beyond, may we continue walking, remembering, and telling the stories of Cebu.

Seven years ago, the Cebu Association of Tourguides Inc., in partnership with Department of Tourism Central Visayas Office and RAFI - Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc., launched this special heritage walk to commemorate:

🌍 The First Circumnavigation of the World

Locals and travelers alike rediscovered Cebu’s history step by step from its roots as a fishing village to its rise as a trading powerhouse and modern metropolis.

Truly, legacy lives on in the stories we share and the pride we take in our past.

Nueva Ecija’s rice = Cebu’s puso = Filipino soul food! 🍚❤️

Shoutout to Papel De Liha for reminding us how food maps our identity.

From coastlines to rice fields, Ms. Maria Lorena Guba took us on a cultural journey through Nueva Ecija—where rice is more than just a staple, it’s the heart of heritage.

She shared the importance of cultural and food mapping, showing how rice, carabaos, and local cuisine are deeply connected in the stories of the land. Truly, from grain to glory!

Online Lecture on culture and heritage interpretation and tour guiding

Catch us on Tuesday as we explore the treasure of culture and heritage, as well as see how we can interpret these treasures and integrate them in our leisure activities such as tours! Joining us is Ms. PG Guba, a seasoned tour guide as well as strong culture and heritage advocate.
