Discover Panglao's secret
👉 The Hinagdanan Cave can be found on the island of Panglao in the Bohol province of the Philippines. Made of limestone, Hinagdanan Cave is naturally lit by sunlight filtering through holes in its rocky ceiling, which in turn creates some amazing lighting effects.
As in the area of Anda, Bohol, in Panglao there are also underground caves to visit (the so-called cenotes). The best known and most easily accessible is Hinagdanan Cave.
A few years ago, by chance, a local farmer discovered its entrance. With a rudimentary bamboo ladder he managed to access its interior, where he was completely amazed at what he found. In addition, the different zenithal openings of the cave let the sun's rays pass through and illuminate the cave naturally, creating a true visual spectacle.
The cave is protected by the Bohol Department of Tourism and you have to pay to enter, thus helping to maintain this unique place. If you have brought some booties on your trip, it is an ideal place to use them and thus avoid a possible slip on the wet ground of your entrance, as well as to step more safely on the rocks of the inside the natural pool.
🔅 This cave has become an essential thing to see in Panglao, so it won't be uncommon for you to find other travelers. Even so, we advise you to try to make your visit from Monday to Friday and avoid local holidays. It has more charm that way.
