A beautiful 40 inch trophy of Astor Markhor shot by my client Mr. Jose Madrazo (who is 70 years old) from Spain in the conservancy of SKB (Skoyo-Karbathing-Basingo) in the province of Gilgit-Baltistan using a 7mm mag Wi******er Model 70-XTR rifle fitted with Zeiss Diavari T* Scope (3-12x56 power) from a distance of 395 meters just two hours before the sunset.

As apparent from the photo, the bullet made a clean hole in the heart of Markhor. This hunt was outfitted by our team at Pakistan Guides & personally escorted by Me (Kaiser Khan) & one of my best Hunting Guides Raja Naeem !

We paid a permit fee of US$ 45000/= to the provincial Wild Life Department of Gilgit Baltistan. 80% of this amount (that is US$ 36,000/=) was equally distributed among the poor residents of the villages of Skoyo, Karbathing & Basingo who guard & protect this animal 365 days a year, whereas the remaining 20% will be used to pay the salaries of the game watchers serving the wild life department and spent on projects related to the conservation of this beautiful animal.

So my dear friends community based trophy hunting is in fact the most successful and a real way of conservation of wild life, whereas, poaching gives nothing in return to the conservation of the surviving animals and the poor indigenous people who guard these animals for us so we may pass on our hunting legacy to our forthcoming generations !

In pitch darkness, we left our base camp at 2AM & arrived at 5AM to hide our team of five in a small cave 700 meters away from the animal which was standing on a very high ledge on a 90 degree vertical wall.

We spent over 10 hours in the cave waiting for the right moment & ultimately Jose sneaked out of the cave stalked carefully and managed to hide behind a ridge but still 395 meters away from the beauty !
