Fat Thursday – A Sweet Polish Tradition

In Poland, the last Thursday before Lent is celebrated as Tłusty Czwartek, or Fat Thursday. It’s a day dedicated to indulging in sweet treats, especially pączki—delicious, deep-fried doughnuts traditionally filled with rose jam or other sweet fillings and topped with powdered sugar or glaze.

According to tradition, eating pączki on this day is believed to bring good luck and prosperity. Bakeries and pastry shops are packed with people eager to enjoy these sweet delights, and it’s not uncommon for Poles to eat several pączki in one day!

Fat Thursday marks the beginning of the last week of Carnival, a time of feasting before the fasting period of Lent. Unlike Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday, which is more common in Western countries, Poles celebrate their pre-Lenten indulgence on Thursday.

Have you ever tried pączki? If not, Fat Thursday is the perfect excuse to treat yourself!

Wang Church – A Nordic Gem in Karpacz, Poland

Nestled in the picturesque town of Karpacz, Poland, the Wang Church (Świątynia Wang) is a true architectural and historical treasure. Originally built in Norway in the 12th century, this stunning wooden stave church was moved to Poland in the 19th century, thanks to King Frederick William IV of Prussia.

With its intricate carvings, Viking-inspired decorations, and a breathtaking mountain backdrop, Wang Church is a must-visit destination. It serves as both a historical monument and an active Lutheran place of worship, attracting thousands of tourists and pilgrims each year.

If you’re ever in Karpacz, don’t miss the chance to explore this unique blend of Scandinavian and Silesian heritage!

Książ Castle – A Hidden Gem of Poland

Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Lower Silesia, Książ Castle is one of Poland’s most breathtaking and mysterious landmarks. As the third-largest castle in the country, it boasts over 700 years of history, blending Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance architectural styles.

Perched on a rocky hill and surrounded by the lush Książ Landscape Park, the castle offers stunning panoramic views. Its history is filled with intrigue—during World War II, the N***s took over Książ and began secret underground construction, rumored to be part of the mysterious Project Riese.

Today, visitors can explore the castle’s lavish interiors, underground tunnels, and scenic terraces. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a lover of fairy-tale castles, or simply looking for an unforgettable travel experience, Książ Castle is a must-visit destination in Poland!

Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz

Today marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest N**i German concentration and extermination camp, liberated by the Soviet Army on January 27, 1945.

Auschwitz stands as a symbol of the Holocaust and the atrocities committed during World War II. Over 1.1 million men, women, and children—most of them Jews—were murdered there. Among the victims were also Poles, Romani people, Soviet prisoners of war, and others persecuted by the N**i regime.

This anniversary is a moment to honor the memory of the victims, recognize the resilience of the survivors, and remind the world of the importance of combating hatred, racism, and antisemitism. Auschwitz is not just a historical site—it is a warning to humanity.

Let us reflect on this dark chapter of history and commit ourselves to ensuring that “Never Again” is not just a slogan, but a promise upheld by every generation.
