For several years, I have used social media to share my deep love for Portugal's culture, heritage, and the dedication I put in every walk. It has been a journey fulled by passion 🧡

However, times change. Today, I feel that the true essence of "social" is lost in algorithms. To remain faithful to my values and provide the best possible experience to those who truly walk with us, GO! Walks Portugal is moving away from social media updates.

PT || Associados à trágica, mas bela, história de Amor de Pedro e Inês (o "Romeu e Julieta" Portugueses!) os Jardins da Quinta das Lágrimas são de visita imperdível quando vier a Coimbra.

Para nós estes jardins são mais que isso, já que brincávamos aqui enquanto crianças quando o local estava longe de receber grande atenção turística. Ainda assim, hoje este local continua "fora dos roteiros mais batidos" e poderá apreciar a sua beleza em sossego, ao mesmo tempo que conhece tudo sobre os detalhes históricos sítio! Por exemplo, sabia que o General Wellington plantou duas Sequóias quando visitou este local durante as Invasões Francesas, e essas árvores podem ainda hoje ser visitadas neste espaço?! Esta é apenas uma das muitas curiosidades deste pequeno paraíso verde localizado no coração de Coimbra (e dentro dos nossos corações 💚)!

For us these gardens are more than that, since we played here as children when the place was far from receiving great tourist attention. Even so, today this place remains off the beaten track and you can enjoy its beauty in peace while learning all about the historical details of this place! For example, did you know that General Wellington planted two Sequoias when he visited this site during the French Invasions, and these trees can still be seen in this space nowadays?! This is just one of the many curiosities of this small green paradise located in the heart of Coimbra (and deep within our hearts 💚)!

PT || Muitas das pessoas que visitam Coimbra não se apercebem deste espaço, e nós recomendamos vivamente uma visita!

Inaugurado em 2007, o Museu da Água pretende retratar a história do abastecimento público de água na cidade de Coimbra. Quando visitar este espaço vai encontrar um túnel subterrâneo que conduz atualmente a uma esplanada junto às margens do rio.

Este espaço museológico é um local de celebração de memórias antigas, inspirado no diálogo permanente entre Coimbra e o Rio Mondego. O programa cultural anual deste Museu tem um sem número de sugestões de atividades e eventos, que vão desde as exposições de pintura, escultura, vídeo, instalações de arte, apresentação/lançamento de livros, concertos musicais, até aos seminários e workshops temáticos.

Inaugurated in 2007, the Water Museum aims to portray the history of public water supply in the city of Coimbra. When you visit this place you will find an underground tunnel that currently leads to an esplanade along the banks of the river. The view from there is great! ⁠

This museum is a place to celebrate old memories, inspired by the permanent dialogue between Coimbra and the Mondego River.
