"What can you possibly experience in a city in a day? It was barely scratching the surface as a tourist. Bruce and I prefer to be travelers."

After ten small-group tours across the world, one of our travelers, Elaine and her husband Bruce, were looking for something deeper: a chance to go beyond quick tourist stops and truly experience life as locals.

They recently returned from spending a full month in Lisbon with our September cohort, living in the historic Chiado neighborhood, mastering the local trams, exploring Sintra, and enjoying sunset cruises with their cohort and local Community Manager, Jen.

Between launching new fall cohorts, hosting webinars, and on-the-ground program visits, October flew in before we even had a chance to catch our breath! 🍂

We’re taking a quick pause to look back at how The Good Life Abroad team closed out September, because behind the scenes, our global crew was busy celebrating big life milestones, family moments, and adventures:

🇪🇸🇫🇷 Andrew: Checked in on cohort programs across San Sebastian, Bilbao, and Bordeaux.
⛰️ Aidan: Took on mountain biking surrounded by fall colors.
🇵🇹 Jen: Met up in Lisbon with one of our Alumni who officially made Portugal home!
🌵 Katerina: Camped under the stars and caught sunset hikes in Joshua Tree National Park.
👶 Vic: Welcomed new baby nephew to the family alongside visiting family from Brazil!
💒 Steffenie: Beat a nor’easter storm to pull off her sister’s island wedding.
⚾ Reyna: Soaked up the energy at pre-playoff baseball games!

Life moves fast when you’re having fun, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Wrapping up a fantastic month in Nice! 🇫🇷 Our 2nd Nice cohort has officially completed their stay, and what a delight it’s been! From neighborhood happy hours and birthday celebrations to an unforgettable day tour to Bordighera, Italy with our local CM, Céline, this group soaked up every single moment of Riviera life.

Here’s to the new friendships, shared meals, and incredible memories made on the French Riviera! 🥂
