The season has begun! 🚢 🤩 Today marks the very first sailing of the year for our Svalbard Adventure Mini-Cruise.

Designed for adventurous travellers, this Arctic journey takes you along the breathtaking west coast of Spitsbergen, exploring spectacular fjords, searching for wildlife, and going ashore by Zodiac to experience the rugged landscape up close.

The North Pole journey started here – 100 years ago.

In May 1926, Roald Amundsen and his international crew departed from Svalbard aboard the airship Norge, becoming the first verified expedition to cross the North Pole. Today, you can still visit Ny-Ålesund.

On our Svalbard Adventure Mini Cruise, our final stop takes you to this remote settlement, where you can see the airship mast and walk past the Amundsen Villa.

On Svalbard, we experience the longest period of midnight sun in all of Norway - from 19 April all the way to late August. That’s over four months of continuous daylight in Longyearbyen ☀️

The midnight sun means the sun never dips below the horizon. Seeing the colourful «Spisshus» glowing after midnight, or taking a quiet stroll through Longyearbyen’s empty streets, is an experience in itself. And you haven’t truly felt FOMO until you’ve tried going to bed on a perfectly clear night, when the sun is pushing through the curtains and you know the Arctic light outside is far too good to miss.

Life up here can feel a bit restless during this season, but after a long polar night, the return of endless daylight is pure magic - a contrast so strong it feels like stepping into another world.

Few events capture the spirit of the Svalbard community quite like Svalbard Skimarathon.
We are proud to support this annual event as General Partner, year after year. This is what we in Norway call a “folkefest” - a true people’s celebration, bringing the community together in the heart of the Arctic.

We were especially proud to have several of our own on the start line, including our CEO Ingeborg Flønes, Adventures Director Tore Hoem, CFO Peter Jan Svarstad, as well as Hedda Felin, CEO of Hurtigruten.

Congratulations to all participants, organisers and volunteers for another unforgettable Skimarathon 🙌🏼
