Pioth Peace apologizes to Thiik Thiik Mayardit, pledges respect and peace
South Sudanese musician Pioth Deng Diing, popularly known as “Pioth Peace,” has issued a public apology to Hon. Thiik Thiik Mayardit and members of the public who may have been offended by any of his songs.
In a statement, Pioth said he never intended to insult, damage reputations, or cause harm through his music, explaining that his work was meant as artistic expression. However, he acknowledged that music can be interpreted differently by different audiences and accepted responsibility for promoting peace and respect.
The artist also addressed his family, the Aweil community, and the wider public, reaffirming his respect for their values, guidance, and decisions. He pledged to continue acting responsibly, respect lawful authority, and ensure that his music and public conduct do not intentionally cause harm or injustice.
Pioth further expressed his commitment to peace, justice, and due legal process, adding that he trusts the courts and relevant authorities to handle any outstanding matters fairly.
He concluded his message by praying for blessings upon South Sudan.
