The transition from the blue hour to dusk is always a soothing time in the bush. We’re lucky to have such an oasis at Kisimangeda.

What an under appreciated secret, only 3 hrs away from Arusha.

A few weeks ago, I became intrigued with the concept of a “primitive trail”. Drawn by the idea of five nights in the bush, strictly on foot, carrying everything we needed, covering 10-15km a day and traversing one of South Africa’s last real wildernesses; Pafuri.

Sandwiched between two rivers, the Luvuvhu and the Limpopo- (I mean who doesn’t want to visit the Limpopo when you grew up with the Rudyard Kipling’s ‘Just So Stories’), we traipsed paths well known to elephants, clambered over rocks, snuck through Mopane thickets, sat under Nyala trees for extended lunch breaks, scoured the ground for stone tools and evidence of former human presence, birded, tracked, revelled in the holy Jackal berry forests… and then, at the end of the day, settled next to the camp fire under an undiluted Milky Way.

Thank you to and for the soul healing walk.

Phase 2… sharpening up on the hard skills we need to keep people safe. At immersive nature experiences are at the forefront of our ethos, and there’s no better way to do that than to get out into the Savannah (and Forest of Koroi) on a walking safari.

Phase 1 of our 2026 guide training season is done. What an incredible week it’s been and so proud of this group.

A huge thank you to for letting us use their beach property and snorkeling equipment, & for their knowledge sharing and inspiration.

Day 3… when you start the day with a sunrise like this, nervous anticipation, and infectious joy… you know it’s going to be a great day.

We began our training iterating and emphasising that everyone was on their own journey- no ego, no judgement… challenge by choice.

Couldn’t be more proud of every member of the team!

We’re ready to try snorkeling at Maziwe Island tomorrow. Stay tuned…

This is so fun…
