Fencher Safaris Uganda: Professional Travel Tips
1. Navigating the Election Week (Jan 13–20, 2026)
While our national parks remain peaceful and fully operational, we recommend a "Safari First" strategy.
Pro-Tip: If your flight lands this week, we will facilitate a smooth transfer directly from Entebbe to the wilderness. Avoiding major urban rallies in Kampala and Jinja on the 15th ensures your journey remains focused on the serenity of nature.
Security: Expect an increased security presence on major roads; this is a standard measure to ensure everyone’s safety, and our Fencher Safaris drivers are well-versed in navigating these checkpoints efficiently.
2. Primate Trekking Essentials
Since you’re likely here for our famous 6-Day Primate Safari, preparation is key to your comfort in Bwindi or Kibale.
The "Tuck-In" Rule: Always tuck your trousers into your long socks to prevent safari ants from climbing up.
Gardening Gloves: They aren't just for the yard! Use them to grab onto branches or vines during steep gorilla treks without worrying about thorns or stinging nettles.
3. Connectivity & Digital Presence
Offline Maps & Communication: During election cycles, internet speeds can sometimes fluctuate in urban areas. We recommend downloading offline maps of your route and keeping our office WhatsApp number saved for direct satellite or cellular calls.
Photography: Uganda is incredibly photogenic, but please avoid taking photos of government buildings, bridges, or security personnel, especially during this high-activity week.
4. The "Pearl of Africa" Etiquette
Tipping: Our guides at Fencher Safaris are cultural ambassadors. While tipping is at your discretion, a standard gesture is $10–$15 per person per day for your guide, and about 10% in local restaurants.
Hydration: Always stick to bottled water (which we provide in all our vehicles) even for brushing your teeth in more remote lodges.
A Note from Geofrey and Janepher
"At Fencher Safaris Uganda, we don't just show you the animals; we connect you to the soul of our homeland. Your safety and inspiration are our top priorities.

Did You Know? Jinja is home to a "Time Machine!" 🚂🇺🇬
At Fencher Safaris Uganda, we don't just take you to see the sights; we take you back in time. Did you know that the Uganda Railway Museum in Jinja is housed in a station built all the way back in 1928?
Here are 3 mind-blowing facts about this hidden gem:
1️⃣ The "Lunatic Express": The railway was nicknamed this because of the extreme challenges faced during construction—including the legendary "Man-Eaters of Tsavo" (lions that actually hunted the workers!).
2️⃣ More Than a Train: The railway is the reason Jinja became the industrial capital of Uganda. It didn't just carry cargo; it built a nation.
3️⃣ Step Inside: You can actually board beautifully restored vintage coaches and watch a short film inside a stationary locomotive! 🎥
Fencher Tip: After exploring the vintage tracks, grab a cup of the best Ugandan coffee at the museum’s railway-themed café. It’s the perfect "slow travel" moment before your next big adventure with us.

Why the Giraffe is the Most "High-Tech" Animal in the Wild 🦒🤖
Most people know they are tall, but what people don't know is how much effort it takes to BE that tall!
🦒 The 25lb Heart: A giraffe’s heart is the size of a microwave and twice as powerful as a human's. It has to pump blood up a 6-foot neck just to reach the brain!
🦒 The No-Sleep Club: They only need about 30 minutes to 2 hours of sleep per day. They usually take 5-minute naps while standing up! (Tag a friend who sleeps like this! 😂)
🦒 Vertebrae Match: Believe it or not, a giraffe has the exact same number of neck bones as a human (Seven). Ours are tiny, while theirs can be 10 inches long each!
🦒 The "Rude" Arrival: When a baby giraffe is born, it falls 6 feet straight to the ground. This "fall" actually helps them take their first breath and they are standing up within an hour! 👶💨
Uganda is home to the rare Rothschild’s Giraffe (also known as the Nubian Giraffe)—and they are waiting to meet you this Easter.

Did you know elephants have a "secret language" that humans can't even hear? 🐘🤫
In the heart of Queen Elizabeth National Park, these majestic giants are doing more than just roaming—they’re communicating through low-frequency rumbles (infrasound) that travel for miles! 🌍✨
At Fencher Safaris, we don’t just show you the animals; we bring you into their world. Imagine sitting in our safari vehicle, just meters away from a 6-ton matriarch leading her calf to the water’s edge at the Kazinga Channel. 🛶💦
Why QENP elephants are special:
✅ They are the "architects" of the park, creating paths that other wildlife use.
✅ You can watch them swim—yes, swim!—to cool off from the Ugandan sun.
✅ They share the park with the famous tree-climbing lions (talk about a star-studded cast!).
🔥 LIMITED TIME OFFER:
We are opening 3 exclusive slots for our "Pearl of Africa" 2026 expeditions! Comment "ELEPHANT" below, and we’ll DM you a special early-bird itinerary with a 10% discount voucher. 🎫👇
The world is calling. Will you answer?

Everyone comes for the Big Five, but they stay for moments like this. 🦒✨
Did you know that Giraffes are actually the "Gentle Sentinels" of the savanna? Not only are they the tallest land animals on Earth, but they only sleep for about 30 minutes a day—often in short 5-minute naps while standing up! 🛌🦒
Uganda is full of surprises beyond the lions and gorillas. From the towering giraffes of Murchison Falls to the hidden gems of the wild, there is a story waiting at every turn.
