As of May 2025, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), has reinforced a critical safety regulation: power banks and other devices containing lithium-ion or lithium-metal batteries are strictly prohibited in checked luggage. This measure is due to the significant fire risk these batteries pose when stored in aircraft cargo holds, particularly the danger of thermal runaway—a rapid, uncontrolled increase in temperature that can lead to fires or explosions!

Before heading to the airport, double-check your luggage to ensure all lithium battery-powered devices are in your carry-on. This simple step can prevent delays and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
