It amazes me when I truly look over these costal brown bears. Seems every inch carries the perfect design to survive in the harsh environments of Alaska. They truly are amazing creatures.
Sometimes I have too just put the camera down and enjoy the beauty, take in the reality that I am there in the presence of such wonder.

The dream locations for amazing and heart felt portraits. Portraits that dig in deep and set your heart on a journey of discovery and adventure. Places where you become more worldly with every click of the shutter. Places where you feed your camera and your soul with a type of discovery and happiness that goes beyond explanation. Indeed I have my dream list. Ethiopia of course is right at the top, a dream I have lived many times, and we will be back next year. In February we start our new Vietnam safaris, and I must say that Papua New guinea is in my mind. I am working on it now. I also want to photograph the reindeer herders in Mongolia. We all have our dream locations, although I do have so many. I can say one thing, I can not get there by sitting on my haunches and not doing anything about it. So I best get busy.

It wont be long now and the bears are going to switch to Lions and elephants. The weather will go from Fall to spring, I'll get an extra bit of spring and summer before heading back home to winter. The food will go from green and red chile to Braai's and days that grow longer, not shorter. My wake up calls turn from coyotes to roaring lions and the evenings are full of the sounds of birds that often sing into the darkness. Just all part of the wonderful and adventurous world of a wildlife photographer.

What are you excited about for the weekend ahead. So many choices, yet for me I believe it's Sunday Church and Breakfast with my beautiful wife. I do need to clean out the gutters as all this rain and falling leaves has closed them up a bit. After looking over the weather forecast I believe I can shut down at least one of the swamp coolers. So a few chores to accomplish as well.
Should be a wonderful weekend of wonderful fall weather and time well spent with the corgis and Tricia.

Expression in wildlife is so dependent on your own interpretation. I think in so many ways it may also depend on the viewers state of mind and overall feelings of life and the joys of living in such an incredible and adventurous world.
