Happy National Read a Book Day! ✨📖✨

Other than going to Disney, reading is my favorite thing to do, which means pretty much anytime I’m not booking your trips, I’m reading books!! 📚🤓

I love finding books tucked away in the parks ~ Disney is ALL about stories, after all ~ and these are two of my favorites: the bookshelves in Jungle Navigation Co LTD Skipper Canteen in Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland, and the bookshelf in Minnie’s house in Disneyland’s Toontown.

If you’re ever in Skipper Canteen, I highly recommend perusing the bookshelves that lead into the S.E.A. room (Society of Explorers and Adventurers ~ you’ll see Jungle Book has been pulled forward to open the secret passage), especially if you enjoy the punny humor of the Jungle Cruise. On these shelves you’ll find titles such as

“The Overwhelming Dodo Population,”
“Cheetahs Never Prosper,”
“Native Orange Birds of the Southeastern United States,”
“Reasonable Expectations,”
“Shades of Khaki” written by B.Land,
and
“The Majestic Sloth” written by S.Low Poke.

As a bit of a personal update, while I would love nothing more than to have a library like Belle & Beast’s, I’ve had the good fortune of the next best thing: since January I’ve been working a few evenings a week in our public library! And, starting this week, I’m moving to a different library nearby, still part time but hours that are more compatible with our schedules. I’m excited to keep sharing my love of reading, just like I’m always excited to share my love of Disney with all of you!

Ever hear of the Rule of 100?

The Rule of 100 says if you spend 100 hours a year in any discipline, you will be an expert, better than 95% of the world in that discipline.

100 hours a year breaks down to 18 minutes a day.

I definitely spend *well* beyond 18 minutes per day planning, collaborating, reading, watching, learning, absorbing, talking, and focusing on Disney and Disney vacations!

And have, in an official capacity, for 11 years, since I became a Travel Advisor specializing in Disney in August of 2015 (I guess we can call that the Rule of 1,100!).

But, I have been learning and loving all things Disney my whole life, making this endeavor far deeper than a little side business.

While I have awards to show for this expertise: seven years in the top 10% and three years in the top 2% of Fairytale Journeys Travel, one of the top nineteen Disney Earmarked travel agencies in the country, what matters to me much more than all of that is the same thing that mattered to Walt:

People.

And giving them reasons to come back, again and again.

I do that by listening, understanding, guiding, and supporting what matters to you. By organizing, collaborating, and empowering, so that stress becomes excitement.

After 11 years, I watch more and more “Disney travel agents” tell people to “join their team” in MLM agencies, watch Al flyer after Al flyer that all look the same, watch click-bait chatgpt posts about missing out on this hack or that secret and further muddying the over saturation of questionable Disney info.

Meanwhile I’ll be here, sharing what is real, what I know, what I learn between thousands of hours in the parks and official Disney training, always happy and ready to usher the next guests into the magic based on solid experience and earned insight.

Which is why after 11 years, I cherish the people who keep coming back to me again and again, whose families I get to “watch” grow, who recommend me to others so we can start the magical process together.

And that rules.

Last night I went to Yacht Rock at South Street Seaport in Manhattan (if you look all the way on the left you can see the Empire State Building), and was thrilled to have *just* the right shirt to wear!! ⚓️🛥️🛟✨
